Märta is from Lapland, a child of its soft, hard expanses and craggy brilliance. She soon began to dream of the different excitements and dangers of life in the big city. So she danced her way to Stockholm and into the Academy of Ballet. Eventually she turned again, this time to hold a microphone. And sing. She found love, moved to London and started a punk band.

In London Märta dived into the underground scene around Soho’s Dean Street, rubbing shoulders and attitudes with musicians and artists at the eccentric Colony Room Club. In between, she recorded with her band and performed at all the must-go clubs. All this time, there were the rough stones of the wild in her soul; resolved into a passion for jewellery and gems.

Märta Larsson debuted with her first collection in June 2013 at Nicholas James in the heart of London’s Hatton Garden. Born and raised in Swedish Lapland, she traces her life-long passion for jewellery and stones way back to childhood trips to a local jeweller in the North Cape.

Since the launch, Märta Larsson’s designs have been featured repeatedly in major fashion press and worn by a number of artists and dignitaries. She exhibited at Bukowski’s during Stockholm Fashion Week in August 2014 with her S/S15 collection.

Early 2015, Märta commenced a collaboration with Snoopy & Belle In Fashion and created as the first Swedish designer ever, a jewellery outfit for the Snoopy & Belle In Fashion collection. The collection, featuring designers such as Rodarte, Karl Lagerfeld, Isabel Marant etc.,

The Collection

The inspiration for her jewellery springs from forcing the pristine, yet wild and rugged nature of her childhood’s Lapland into the more decadent world of the surreal, creative and unbounded characters she met in London. She loves the unexpected edginess of a shiny but raw stone hard-bound by metal. The Bondage Pendant harnesses the untamed nature, the heart of a loved one. At the same time Märta wants to evoke the unspoilt wilderness; life unspoilt by life.

The collection features pyrite, black tourmaline, quartz, amethyst and lapis. Märta handpicks every stone for her jewellery creations. Each piece is individually hand crafted. She works in sterling silver, as well as gold plated, rolled gold and leather. The designs respect nature’s unending variation and make each piece a unique creation. She sees the stones as nature’s own works of art, with its endless variations and ‘imperfections’ bringing more character, more beauty, than mere ‘perfection’.
